Description
The Albino Hoplo Catfish (Megalechis thoracata, albino variant) is a hardy, peaceful, and personable catfish known for its creamy white body, pinkish eyes, and armored plating. Reaching about 5–6 inches, it’s an active bottom-dweller that enjoys rooting through substrate and exploring the tank, especially at dusk.
These catfish thrive in well-filtered aquariums with soft sand or smooth gravel, plenty of hiding spots, and moderate flow. They’re excellent community fish, tolerant of a wide range of water parameters, and easy to feed—accepting sinking pellets, frozen foods, and occasional veggies. Social by nature, they’re happiest kept in small groups. With their gentle disposition and unique appearance, Albino Hoplos make a charming and resilient addition to medium-to-large freshwater setups.
